Improvisation por Fiesta
About the Class
When dancing por fiesta, everyone takes a turn. But did you know that even an improvised dance has a structure? A definite beginning, middle, and end? Did you know that there certain cues in the cante that are signals for transitioning into the different parts? If you’ve been studying flamenco for a while, you already have everything you need to build your own pataita, whether por bulerias or tangos. In this class we will review the base rhythms, look at the anatomy of a patá, and brainstorm/share material we already have. We will practice putting it all together intentionally and improvisationally. This class is for you if you are looking to feel more confident when you get up to do your patada.
