Classes We Offer

Flamenco-Sur-San-Diego-Sevillanas2
Beginners Level I

The foundations of Flamenco. This is a beginners level class for students with basic flamenco skills.  We will be working at a slower pace to emphasize the import details of all the elements of flamenco. The precise study of footwork, braceo, marcaje, turns, and compás will create a solid foundation for the more complicated techniques to come.

This session will focus on the palos of Tangos and Sevillanas.  Committed students will have the opportunity to showcase their learning through occasional performance opportunities throughout the year.

Flamenco-Sur-San-Diego-Workshop
Multi-Level Technique

In this class, we will focus on all the intricate details that transform a dancer into a Flamenca. We will meticulously study footwork, marcaje, posture, palmas, compás, turns, and more to refine technique and build skill and strength. This class will be tailored to the individual students attending, regardless of their level.

Beginners Level II

In this class, we will build upon the skills learned in the absolute beginner class by incorporating new techniques and exploring different Palos. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the structure of flamenco dance and its relationship to the music and cante. This session will focus on a choreography por Alegrias, providing a practical connection to the concepts we are learning. Additionally, students will review and refine previously learned choreography to maintain and enhance their skills.

Intermediate

Intermediate level students will continue to deepen and strengthen their understanding of flamenco by learning increasingly advanced techniques and concepts.  Using the Palo of Siguiriyas as our starting point during this session, we will learn how a dancer communicates effectively with their cuadro to create a cohesive performance.  Students will learn how to manage their baile to create a range of dynamic throughout, resulting in an expressive and exciting performance

Intermediate/Advanced Technique

In this class, students will move beyond the basics to hone the techniques that will allow them to achieve a higher level of execution in their flamenco studies.  Footwork drills, braceo, marcaje, turns, palmas and more will be explored in depth. Speed, endurance, musicality, and artistry will be emphasized in advanced techniques that build on the intermediate dancer's foundation.

Special Session Fridays - Cuadro Lab

On Fridays, we will explore the diversity of flamenco through a range of special topics

NEW SESSION - Starting Friday, October 2, 2026

A supportive one-hour session for intermediate and advanced students to develop their own flamenco expression.

Use this time to practice existing solo material, transform a group choreography into your own solo, or explore pataitas and improvisation in tangos and bulerias for a fiesta setting.  Students will also learn how to support the dancers with palmas and jaleos.  With live cante and a supportive environment among colleagues, you will have a safe space to practice, experiment, refine your material, and gain confidence dancing on your own.

Advanced Repertory /Tablao

In this dynamic class, students focus on refining individual performance while learning how to support and contribute to the cuadro flamenco — the traditional flamenco ensemble of dancer, singer, and guitarist. Through a combination of solo work and group practice, dancers will continue developing existing group choreographies with a strong emphasis on performance, musicality, and presence. This class prepares dancers for live performance and collaboration, helping each student grow not just as a soloist, but as a vital part of the flamenco ensemble.
